Finish carpentry detail
The short version

Interior finish carpentry: door and window casing, baseboard, stair treads and railings, window returns and built-ins. The work that makes a finished room look finished.

What we build

  • Trim: casing, baseboard, crown and window stools.
  • Doors: interior pre-hung doors set, shimmed, cased and hardware installed.
  • Stairs: basement stair treads, risers, skirt boards and handrails.
  • Egress returns: wood or drywall returns that frame a new egress window like it came with the house.
  • Built-ins: shelving, benches and storage under stairs.

Why a basement contractor does trim

An egress window leaves a deep opening in a thick foundation wall. How that opening is trimmed decides whether the window looks built-in or bolted on. Doing the carpentry ourselves means the room is finished by the people who cut the hole.

FAQ

Carpentry questions.

Trim, doors, stairs and built-ins, all year.

Do you do trim work on its own?

Yes. Casing, baseboard, doors and stair trim are jobs we take on their own, not only as part of a basement finish.

How do you trim an egress window?

The deep opening in the foundation wall gets a return, either drywall or wood, and then casing and a stool so it looks like it came with the house.
